Goblin sharks are rare deep-sea creatures and are the only remaining species in the family Mitsukurinidae. They are noted for their long nose that extends forward of the jaws. Other distinguishing characteristics are long jaws and a pink coloration.
A typical goblin shark averages between 6 to 10 feet in length. The largest recorded goblin shark measured 12.6 ft in length.
Goblin Sharks are usually found around 1,000 feet below the oceans surface. The deepest one has ever been found was nearly a mile under the surface.

Can you imagine seeing the above megalodon shark while
swimming in the ocean! Worlds largest shark mouth fossil source

The Megalodon was an ancient shark that some scientists believe could have been up to 100 feet long. This is an estimate based on fossilized teeth and a few fossilized vertebrae that have been found. This is at least two or three times as longer that a Great White Shark. Imagine individual teeth the size of a person's hand! No other parts of this ancient shark have been found, so scientists can only guess what it may have looked like. Since Megalodon's teeth are very similar to the teeth of the Great White Shark (but bigger and thicker), it is thought that Megalodon may have looked like a huge, streamlined version of the Great White Shark.
Megalodon's diet probably consisted of whales. Sharks eat about 2 percent of their body weight each day; this a bit less than a human being eats. Since most sharks are cold-blooded, they don't have to eat as much as we eat (a lot of our food intake is used to keep our bodies warm.

The Megalodon lived in a time estimated from 25 to 1.6 million years ago, during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs. It is now extinct, but the exact time of its extinction is hotly debated. At a length of more than 50 feet (15 metres) and a mass of nearly 50 tons (tonnes), Megalodon was both larger and heavier than Tyrannosaurus rex. Megalodon is the largest predatory fish that has ever lived on planet earth and is second only to the Sperm Whale as the largest predator our planet has ever produced.
A 100 foot long Megalodon would have a 10 foot tall dorsal fin that would be over 20 feet long. The pectoral fins would each be over 20 feet long, and the tail would be over 24 feet tall. The girth or diameter of a shark this size would be about 65 feet.
If you could see a 100 foot long Megalodon from above, it would measure more than 60 feet from pectoral fin tip to fin tip. Imagine two city busses parked one in front of the other. The mouth is large enought to swallow a large elephant. The tooth of thes beast could be up to 14 inces long.
